This is garbage I simply cannot get this weed trimmer to start. I have carefully followed the manual instructions many times and have made certain that I used new, stabilized gasoline with the correct 2-cycle oil in the correct proportions. I feel like this item is defective, from all the negative opinions I've located online. I can't return this piece of junk because I purchased it online. I will probably destroy it with a sledge hammer to get some satisfaction from my purchase. GARBAGE. August 20, 2014
very hard to start, won't idle this thing is very hard to start, and won't idle- even on an 80 degree day. you have to play with the choke to keep it running and then when you give it gas it dies half the time. you have to change lines every time it breaks, luckily it has 2 ends so it will keep cutting with one until it breaks off too. so each time you have to add line you have to restart it again- good luck with that.. also any weeds that are very long- 12" or more start to wrap around the head and -- will stop the trimmer--you will regret the day you bought this..... Great Trimmer For The Price Got a great deal online for the trimmer. So far it has been fantastic for the price! It's an entry level trimmer, but I love the fixed head, as opposed to a bump and feed. Super easy and quick to change the line. The power is good. Starting it was no problem. Started on the 4th pull out of the box. Followed the instructions on the side of the trimmer and used my intuition to get it going. Runs well once going and no problems starting after its been running awhile. The only downsides are: the cutting swath is only 16in, it's a little loud, and it's somewhat heavy. A shoulder strap solves the weight issue though. All in all I couldn't be happier with this trimmer. I also own a Poulan Pro snowblower which runs like a champ. If the trimmer holds up a few years, it will be one of the best purchases, I have ever made! May 22, 2014
P4500F I have had this trimmer for years now and it has been the most reliable and easy to use trimmer I have ever had. August 28, 2012
Disappointed Purchased a 4500 Weed Trimmer July of 2012. This is my first purchase of a Poulan product after being a committed Craftsman customer for over 8 years. The first time I use my Poulan 4500, after reading and following starting instructions, the 4500 was very difficult to start. After running for a short time, the 2nd time I go to start I have the same difficulty starting. In my attempt to start the pull start disconnects. I took the unit back to the place I purchased it from and they would not return it. They stated I needed to contact Poulan directly. Very disappointed in my Poulan experience! July 26, 2012

This product won't stay running...it's new!! I cannot recommend this product for the simple reason that it will not stay running. It starts easy, looks great, is light weight and easy to handle. Yet from day one (only two attempts to use so far) it won't stay running. I've followed the instructions properly but no matter what, it stalls out. This is not my first trimmer. I still have my Ryobi from 13 years ago and use the blower attachment to clean up after yard work. It still runs great. Go figure. So now I will have to locate an authorized servicer to figure out why she won't stay running. I called Poulan's provided customer service number today (Saturday# when I could not keep it running #again#. I touched toned my way through to 'general questions.' I recieved a recorded message stating hours of operation are Monday thru Friday and to call back during those hours. They do not take calls #for general questions# on Saturday I guess which makes perfect sense because no one does yard work on the weekends. What was I thinking? :-# May 5, 2012
